Helping Survivors Understand Their Strength and Systems Understand Their Responsibility
In 2017, a child's disclosure of sexual abuse changed everything. What followed was an education in how child sexual abuse really works—from the Safe Touch program that gave her the information she needed to safely disclose, to the child advocacy center that created a safe space to tell her story, to the prosecution system that revealed how justice can be undermined.
Through navigating every part of this journey, endless hours of research, and listening to countless survivors' stories, I discovered patterns that explain what so many people misunderstand: why victims stay silent, why they seem "willing," why they don't disclose immediately, and where our systems succeed and fail.
Now I speak at events, train professionals on trauma-informed responses, and advocate for policy reform—transforming lived experience into a force for protecting children and supporting survivors.
My message is clear:
Victims carry shame they don't deserve
Abusers use calculated tactics to trap and silence
Our justice system must do better
Every one of us has a role in breaking the silence
